Shishir Kurup, born November 2, 1961 in Bombay, India, is an Indian-born American actor who plays the role of Guru Sanbir Dutta on the HBO original series True Blood. Making his debut on the episode "Fire in the Hole", in the series' seventh season, Shishir plays the role of the proprietor of an ashram called the Institute for the Unchained Spirit in Los Angeles, California. A lover of Sarah Newlin, Shishir plays a recurring role through the same season, meets an untimely demise in the Season 7 episode "Karma", and appears once more, in one of Sarah's hallucinations on the subsequent episode, "May Be the Last Time", in the series' seventh, and final, season.
