"I called the LAVTF on your vamp slut, say goodbye to her forever."
Sarah[src]

The Louisiana Area Vampire Task Force, or LAVTF for short, is an elite police force specialized in vampires on the HBO original series True Blood.

History[]

Season 6[]

Members of the LAVTF are present when Truman Burrell announces open season on vampires.("Who Are You, Really?")

Members of the LAVTF are again seen protecting governor Burrell. When Eric Northman is discovered to have infiltrated the mansion, members of the LAVTF escort him out to a waiting van. The vampire flies away however before they can do anything.("The Sun")

When Willa Burrell is located at Ginger's House, members of the LAVTF deploy gas and storm the door. Inside however they find nothing more than a screaming Ginger.("At Last")

Sarah calls in the LAVTF to arrest Jessica Hamby. She is taken to Burrell's Camp along with many other vampires. Jason vows to get her out of there and proceeds to the nearest LAVTF recruitment office.("F**k the Pain Away")

Purpose[]

The LAVTF's main objective is to capture any vampire who is out on the streets after sundown and transport them to camp. They employ a vast range of anti-vampire weapons including UV-bullets and anti-glamouring contact lenses.

They also function as prison guards at Burrell's research facility. They transport vampire to and from research rooms and keep peace in the general prisoner populations.

Recruitment[]

Those wishing to join the LAVTF can do so by reporting to their nearest recruitment office. They will be asked certain questions, which mainly focus on their experience with vampires. Depending on their answers, potential recruits will be conducted for training. They may even be "fast tracked" if a recruit shows high potential. Although they were ostensibly only there to enforce the law and protect humans, many of them were motivated more by hatred and prejudice, looking to keep vampires down through repression.

Vampires arrested by the LAVTF[]

Aftermath[]

After the destruction of the vampire camp, it is safe to assume that the LAVTF is reduced in size and activity or perhaps entirely disbanded, due to its role in the atrocities committed against vampires. It is unknown if any human who was complicit with their crimes has survived (other than Sarah Newlin). Researching and developing Hep V led to the pandemic spread of infected vampires and has possibly increased vampire assaults on humans, thus their work made human lives less safe.
