"God made me as vampire, and Adam and Eve as human. I am worshiped as a god as some may come to worship you as a god. But there is no god but God."
Lilith, to Bill Compton

God is the all-powerful creator of the universe and the supreme deity of all other gods. On the HBO original series True Blood, God is worshiped in both human and vampire societies. The way he is perceived is one of the most varied aspects of the series and the world today.

History[]

According to the Book of the Vampyr God first created Lilith, the primordial vampire, and then created the first members of humankind, Adam and Eve, to serve as food of the "divine race", but the authenticity of this is doctrine is uncertain. ("Authority Always Wins")

Later God is said to have incarnated on Earth as a man, Jesus Christ, to guide humankind. Eventually, Christ was betrayed by one of his followers, Judas Iscariot, for a few silver coins but was later resurrected and ascended to heaven. ("Keep This Party Going") Christ serves as the basis for many modern religions, but his word is often twisted and misused.

In modern times, belief in God is often the cause or used as excuse for bigotry and persecution with both human groups and vampire groups claiming they're doing "God's work".

Powers and Abilities[]

God is the all-knowing, all-perfect and all-powerful creator of the universe and all its inhabitants. God is a spiritual being who exists outside of space and time, but can influence the world and his creations through supernatural means. While God is arguably genderless, most mainstream religions, such as Christianity, depict God as male, while many new age religions, such as Wicca, depict God as female. While God is known to co-exist with various other gods from various pantheons of other cultures, God is believed to be the highest reigning deity of all time, with the rest being his creations too.
