Rev. Steve Newlin Named New Voice of the AVL

August 13, 2012

The American Vampire League is delighted to announce the appointment of Rev. Steve Newlin as the organization’s new spokesperson and public-affairs chief. In a statement to press, Newlin explained what may seem a surprising change of heart. “As leader of the ruthless anti-vampire terrorist group The Fellowship of the Sun, I have an insider’s view of the hate and bigotry facing vampires today.” He went on to say that since his turning last year, he has recognized the error of his former bigoted ways and is inspired to spread the truth about vampires: That they are peaceful, law-abiding citizens. “When you see that even a feared zealot can be welcomed into the fold, I think it’s pretty hard to deny that vampires are compassionate and accepting.” Please join us in welcoming Steve to the organization – great things are to come!

Nan Flanagan Steps Down as AVL Spokeswoman

August 13, 2012

Since the first announcement that vampires had “come out of the coffin,” Nan Flanagan has served as the official face of the American Vampires League, ushering the organization through its fledgling years, launching numerous public-service campaigns, and championing vampire rights across a variety of complex political arenas. So, it is with regret that we announce her decision to resign from her position, effective immediately. “I look forward to having more time to enjoy the freedoms we’ve fought so hard for,” she wrote in a statement released by her office. “I plan to spend time with my loved ones and get used to a major shift in work-life balance.”
